Who: everyone interested
The event will present the first results of the project.
The quality and quantity of silage sward yield are very significant factors in milk and beef production. In the CyberGrass project, the quantity and quality of silage production swards are assessed by means of measuring from swards reflected radiation data collected by drones and satellites. The Natural Resources Institute and the Finnish Land Survey's Geospatial Information Centre have already had encouraging results in evaluating both quality characteristics and biomass quantity of silage grass swards. Imaging has been carried out in summer 2021 and especially this past summer on farms in Southern Ostrobothnia in cooperation with ProAgria South Ostrobothnia. The project, funded by Interreg Botnia Atlantica, involves expertise in satellite monitoring from the Swedish Agricultural University's Umeå Röbäcksdalen unit as well as practical farms through the Norbotten — Västerbotten Agricultural Advisory Organisation. The project aims to refine the functionality of the Karpe harvesting time model in predicting digestibility of silage sward biomass to be more site-specific.
